Our members come to our gym for a number of reasons. They want to lose fat. They hope to gain muscle mass. They want to ready themselves for the summer season. They want to train for a specific sport. But, ultimately, they want to live longer, happier and healthier lives. In our experience we have found that no two members are alike.

I started CrossFit at the request of my daughter Jen who had already been training at CrossFit Tulare for a while and was loving it. I’ve done a lot of different sports — triathlon, running, swimming — but nothing like this. The workouts are short and intense. I was always looking for weight loss or at least [weight] control. I am now 20 pounds under my high school weight. Don’t expect a miracle overnight. Be consistent. Scale the workout. The competition should be with yourself; all the people at the gym are on your side. Nutrition, sleep, and recovery will make your goals a reality. Don’t be afraid to ask Coach Mike for help; he’ll make it better, you can be something great.
I started CrossFit Tulare when I was 55. I was suffering with a bad back, bad ankles, bad shoulders, and a broken bicep tendon. I was running out of body parts to “baby” and still move. So I signed up for some personal training to try and help. With Michael’s help, and a few other coaches along the way, I worked on mobility, strength, flexibility, aerobic condition, and tenacity. Through the years, I have improved far beyond my expectations of what was possible. I had hoped to stop, or at least slow down the decline in my physical condition. What I got was a tremendous increase in the quality of my life. I can move so much easier and more. My strength is more than it has ever been, my activity level surpasses any point in my adult life, my joint pain is greatly reduced, and my general quality of life has improved exponentially. I have gotten to know a group of people who are amazingly supportive of each other. I have trained with other people who have changed their lives in ways that I think are phenomenal. When I started researching CrossFit, all the videos I saw were of super athletes doing things I considered impossible. When I apprehensively started taking the classes, what I found was a group of individuals at all levels of fitness. We all took the impossible workouts and scaled them to our own abilities. With time and practice, some of those impossible movements, became very doable. For all the mornings I have woke up hating you, you have made my life better. THANK YOU!!!
